Viele Songs kannte ich vorher in einer Rohfassung,nun sind diese Lieder geglättet worden und werden auf dem Album „The promise“ verewigt.
Mache kein Hehl daraus,dass die Urversionen mir besser gefallen.
Würde heute sagen,wenn Bruce im Jahre 1977 und 1978 diese Songs zur Auswahl hatte für das Album „Darkness on the edge of town“,hat er sich was die Auswahl angeht fast alles richtig gemacht.Nur „The promise“ hätte es verdient aufs Album,was „Because the night“ und „Fire“ angeht wissen wir,dass Patti Smith das Lied bekommen hat und Pointer Sister.
Auffallend ist der Boss hat die poppgen Lieder aussen vor gelassen,was ich persönlich gut finde;-)
Es gibt schon Tracks von „The promise“ die unglaublich gut sind unter anderem „Outside looking in“,“Rendezvous“ oder „It´s a shame“ keine Frage,nur hätten diese Songs nicht auf das Meilensteinalbum „Darkness“ gepasst das ganze Konzept das typisch ist für Springsteen wäre dahin.
Könnte noch lange schreiben aber das reicht für das Erste.

Ich schließe mich meinem Vorschreiber an. Die Songauswahl auf „Darkness“ ist so einfach perfekt. Die bislang nicht veröffentlichten Songs sind gut, aber viele klingen für mich einfach nicht druckvoll genug. Wenn man an „Because the night“ denkt, klingt diese Studioversion gegenüber der Livefassung einfach wie ein laues Lüftchen und auch „Fire“ fehlt der rechte Pep. Es sind halt outtakes und somit wohl auch nur ein Leckerbissen für uns Fans, aber das reicht ja auch. Ich freue mich jedenfalls riesig auf die Box und bin mal gespannt auf die Liveaufnahmen.
Es gibt wieder einen „neuen Song“ vom Boss zu hören. Er singt auf dem neuen Ray Davies-Album „See my Friends“ gemeinsam mit dem Kinks Sänger den Riesenhit „Better Things“ zum Besten. Ich finde, das ist absolut empfehlenswert – also: Unbedingt reinhören!!

Gerade ist es bei mir gelandet – das Box-Set DARKNESS *freudensprung*. SEHR schön aufgemacht. Schöner als erwartet.
